Summer 2019: June 23-28
Developed with the serious music student in mind, this residency is an in-depth week-long summer program for high school and middle school music students designed by UNC Asheville’s contemporary music faculty.
At UNC Asheville, our music performance and music technology programs push the boundaries of music education. University students receive directed instruction in Studio Music and Jazz while cross-training in Eco and Ethnomusicology plus Roots and Popular Music. They explore experimental multi-media, electronic music, and the most contemporary concert and improvisational music to date, all housed inside a comprehensive liberal arts curriculum producing well-rounded graduates.
Taking its cue from the University’s four year program, the Summer Music Camp accelerates knowledge and understanding of all forms of improvisational music. Students participate in a variety of challenging and rewarding ensembles and classes while interacting continually, from sunup to sundown with the faculty and guest artists.

A non-refundable registration fee of $100 will be required when you register and will secure a spot for the attendee. All private lesson fees are also due when you register to hold private lesson spots.
Attendees will have the opportunity to study privately with our camp faculty. These sessions provide directed insight into the student’s instrument in the form of fundamentals, improvisational techniques, and practice regimens.
Cost- $30 per half hour, paid at registration.
Due to limited time slots for one on one instruction, we are required to take the lesson fees at registration in order to schedule effectively.

A fund providing a limited number of need-based merit scholarships for the 2019 summer camp has been provided by the UNC Asheville Office of Admission and Financial Aid.
