Angi West

Class of 2004 (Bachelor of Arts in Music - singer / songwriter)

After graduating, Angi spent time in India singing, traveling and volunteering. Next, a year at Berklee College of Music to refine her songwriting skills. She has released 3 albums and participated in the first Hatchfest Asheville. She is currently in graduate school at WCU studying to also become a CPA. She says, "There are many ways to make your dreams come true and I'd rather feed my dreams than ask them to feed me."

The time that I spent at UNC Asheville pouring over sonatas; reading operatic scores; practicing late into the night, is a time that shaped my love for music. Even now, when I am songwriting, I know that there are things I would never have heard if my ears hadn't been opened by my education. Being a musician will never be an easy life, but it is always full of discovery and I am grateful that I had professors and other students at UNC Asheville that taught me how to harness that sense of wonder and discovery.
